My immigration to USA through the fiancee petition…

Form I-693

Posted on June 26, 2008 - Filed Under I-485 Adjustment of Status

An email from another K1 applicant who’s now here in the USA. I am posting it here for future reference for others should they go through the same thing.

Hi Inna, How are you? I hope you’re doing well.
I hope you still remember me. I’m now here in the US.

I’m now processing my permanent resident status. They’re sending me a letter asking for an additional evidence. They ask me to get a medical exam. the I-693 Form. Akala ko ba were done with our medical sa St. Lukes and that the immigration will forward the medical result to the US immigration where our papers are being processed? I can’t understand why are they asking for another evidence? They said that the immigration did not forward the medical result to California office. That’s not our fault, di ba?

Ang hindi ko ma intindihan bakit sila mag request ng another medical exam when we already done it in the Phils. I called one of their doctors here it’s gonna cost us $400!!! Ang mahal mahal!
The medical exam is just the same what we did in the Phils.

If you know anything about this, Please let me know. or did you undergo the same scenario.

Thanks so much, your input would be a great help.

From my experience, I did send in the I-693 along with the the I-485 when I filed for my adjustment of status. The reasons behind my submitting the I-693 with my I-485 is that first, I did not have any vaccinations done when I was in the Philippines because of my pregnancy and second, I remember that the lady from St. Luke’s told me that there is a vaccine that is not available in the Philippines, and we can only get it here in the US. So that may be the reason why all K1 applicants from the Philippines, need to be poked again, for this particular vaccine,  aside from the ones that they had from the Philippines.

You need to go to a physician that is in the list of USCIS civil surgeons in your area, then he’ll refer you to the health center to get the particular vaccination that you still need. That way you don’t need to pay a lot. I only paid $20 or less for my vaccination, took the vaccination result to the USCIS physician then paid $75 for him to fill up the I693 form.

If you say that USCIS claims that they were not given the medical result for your exam, when you came here, after a week you received a copy of your medical exam result from St. Luke’s, right ? Now if you have that, you can bring it to to that USCIS physician so he can include it in your form I-693. He will be able to see from your vaccination supplement from St. Luke’s that you already had several of the required vaccinations. Hopefully he will be understanding of your situation, and will not insist that you take another medical examination again, at his clinic. If you don’t have that copy of the vaccination supplement that you had in Manila, then you can ask for a referral to take the necessary vaccination at the health center so it won’t be too expensive.

I hope this helps.

Sample Letter on How I Met My Fiance(e)

Posted on June 15, 2008 - Filed Under I-129F Petition or Fiancee/ K1 Petition

Somebody asked me how to make a how-I-met-my-fiance(e) letter, one of the requirements if a US Citizen wants to file for the I129F petition to bring a fiance(e) to the US. In filing for this type of petition, one will use the form I129F that can be downloaded from the USCIS.

The letter on how you met your fiance(e) is your answer to item no. 18 of the Form I129F. Your answer, in the form of a letter as all of us K1 applicants have done so in the past, will give them an idea if this is a fraudulent relationship or a genuine one. If you think you would want not to say the real fact on how you two met, it is up to you but once you make this letter , be sure to give a copy to your fiance(e) so he or she knows what to say during the consulate interview because whatever you, the petitioner, have written there, should also be what your fiance(e) , the applicant, will say. You may also want to include there the dates that you have met, if you’ve met several times , the place where you’ve met. What was special about that meeting. And at the end, you state there how you are still continuing the relationship through constant phone calls and emails, or chatting through yahoo chat or whatever. ( It would be worth a lot  to send photocopies of  these proofs of phone calls, printouts of emails, or printouts of your yahoo chat with webcam image-this one can be done through paint program).

Anyway, this was how my fiance, now my husband of course, made this simple letter about how he met me, it went something like this;

United States Citizenship and Immigration Services

Dear Sir/ Madam; ( or To Whom It May Concern )

I met my fiance , xxxxxx xxx, the applicant, during my vacation to the Philippines. We were childhood friends but did not see each other for a long, long time. We fortunately met again last June 2003 during …

Cash Advance

Posted on June 2, 2008 - Filed Under Personal

No matter how frugal or how careful we are with our money, a time comes when money gets really tight. Sometimes it’s not of our own doing but rather because somebody close to us, a relative perhaps , suddenly needed money and we cannot say “No” to the person.

I was once in this predicament. My mother needed money as capital for her business and I really don’t know where to go or what to do when she told me about her problem. I thought I’d just make a Cash Advance to come up with the needed amount but thought better of it and made a Personal Loan instead. Whew , good thing there are just too many companies here who are willing to lend money. Welcome to America. :)
